Aspray Glasgow West sponsored Glasgow Clan fell to the Belfast Giants in their first game back at the Braehead Arena.
Dyson Stevenson had the first chance of the game as Jacob Friend gave up possession between the dots, but the Clan captain couldn’t steer the puck on net.
The Giants grabbed the lead shortly after through Ara Nazarian as he poked the puck through Jake Kielly’s five-hole after a scramble at the crease.
Darien Craighead showed off his impressive moves as he dangled through the Belfast defence but he couldn’t pull off a shot.
Jordan Cownie and Luke Lynch had a great connection throughout the first period as they had multiple sequences back-and-forth passes.

The Clan took a highly offensive approach to their powerplay early in the second but were caught on the break as Travis Brown bagged a shorthanded goal for Belfast.
Quinn Preston then gave the visitors a three-goal lead as he fired the puck into the top corner from the blue line.
Jake Bolton responded shortly after though as he slammed a rebound past Jack Whistle to pull one back for the Clan.
Cody Sol and Robert Lachowicz put on solid shifts on the backcheck as they defended the Clan net well with multiple poke checks.
Ryan Harrison, Stevenson and Belfast’s Kohei Sato were caught up in a scramble at the boards which saw them all receive two minutes for roughing.
Belfast quickly pounced on the powerplay opportunity as Preston bagged his second goal of the night to restore his side’s three-goal lead.
The Clan kicked the third period off with some high offensive pressure on the Giants as Lynch struck the cross bar under a minute in.
Cownie later grabbed a second goal for the Clan when he picked up a loose puck in the crease after Jackson Whistle failed to hold a Nate Kallen shot.
The Giants went on to close out the game with a fifth goal with just 50 seconds left on the clock through Matt McLeod to round off the night.
