SIGNED: Canadian winger Brace joins the Clan
Glasgow’s Braehead Clan are delighted to announce the signing of Canadian winger Adam Brace ahead of the 2017/18 season.
The 29-year-old arrives from Reading Royals in the ECHL, where he ended last season and is about to embark on his second move to Europe.
Brace believes it’s important to go to a new place with an open mind after gathering information from former Clan players about where he’s going.
“I know a few players that had played at Braehead in the past, such as Scott Pitt, who I grew up with playing against in the minor leagues and I know he had a very good three years there,” Brace said.
“Neil Trimm was another former player who had a positive experience at the team and all I’ve heard have been good things.
“Cameron Burt is another former team-mate, but I haven’t had the chance to talk to him yet and I’ll catch up with him when I get there.
“I heard great things about the fans and the pace of the games, but I don’t have too many expectations and will go over and play it by ear.
“It’s the best way to do it. You can only make the decision yourself and while you can obtain as much information through other experiences, going in with an open mind is huge.”
Brace played in Reading as well with Florida Everblades and Orlando Solar Bears in 2016/17, making 41 appearances, picking up 16 points.
The season before saw him turn out for Heilbronner Falken in Germany where he put up 71 points, including 31 goals in 64 appearances in his previous European experience.
Clan coach John Tripp reckons Brace’s speed can be a real problem for Elite League defenceman as he welcomed him to the team.
“Adam Brace is a speedy player who is capable of causing headaches for defenceman in the British league and one I’m looking forward to seeing again,” he said.
“He’s a player that always wants to create things and help his team-mates around him if it leads to the scoring of goals and players like that are always great additions.
“When I spoke to him, I was struck by his enthusiasm and desire to want to come to the team and we spoke at length about his role.
“I’m delighted to have Adam at the team and I’m sure he’ll be another player the fans will get behind in the new season.”
Brace will wear the #18 jersey for the Clan.
