Former Braehead Clan player Robert Farmer broke his old team’s heart with an overtime winner for Nottingham Panthers, clinching a 4-3 win.

Ryan Finnerty took his team to Nottingham with a depleted team with Craig Peacock and Harry Quast out through injury, Corey Cowick suspended and Matt Haywood out for personal reasons.

The visitors broke the deadlock with near the end of the first when Lee Baldwin tapped in, but it should have been two before the first break when Mike Hammond saw a sure goal stopped.

Panthers pulled themselves level early in the second when Robert Farmer forced Clan goalie Michal Zajkowski into a save, but Brian McGrattan was on hand to nab the equaliser.

They only had to wait 52 seconds for their second as Robert Lachowicz set up Matt Carter and Nottingham had successfully turned the game in their favour.

Clan levelled within 40 seconds of the second restart when Hammond’s shot looped over Wiikman and landed in the Panthers net to set up an intriguing final period.

Panthers moved ahead again as Jeff Brown put them in front once more after finishing an excellent pass from Andy Sertich.

Leavitt made it 3-3 with minutes to go as Wiikman overly committed and Clan’s #12 tapped the puck into the empty net, taking the game into overtime.

But Farmer was the hero when his team needed him as Panthers clinched the points, but it was a point well earned for Finnerty’s men.
