Glasgow’s Braehead Clan made it two wins from two over the weekend with a 3-1 away win at Edinburgh Capitals.

The Capitals enjoyed some early chances as they endeavoured to get the early goal, but found Clan goalie Ryan Nie in stubborn mood.

Igor Valeyev’s one-timer then one from Alexander Islamov were stopped as well as Sergei Banashkov’s full lunge in front of the crease.

The Clan got the lead as a blue line shot from Zach Sullivan took a final touch from Tyler Scofield as it bounced past Pavel Shegalo in the Caps goal and into the net.

Dmitri Khristich’s side looked for an early reaction as Denis Trakhanov’s effort ended up in Nie’s goal.

Then Clan had a chance up the other end as Cameron Burt set up Scofield, who burst forward from central position, but found Shegalo blocking his shot.

Braehead got their second as Brendan Brooks picked up the puck and moved into the middle before rifling a shot into the net on 33:30.

It was only 28 seconds until the next one as Landon Oslanski finishing off Clan’s third goal after good interplay between him, Brooks and Ryan Potulny.

The third period saw chances at both ends especially as Edinburgh tried to cut into the Clan’s lead.

Islamov was unable to breach Nie, while Matt Haywood up the other end was robbed by Callum Boyd as he was about to pull the trigger.

Nie’s hopes of a shutout were crushed as Sergei Banashkov got what proved to be a consolation for the Capitals in the final minutes.

Clan had to defend two big powerplays as Mike Embach and Tyler Shattock took penalties, but John Tripp’s side had no further problems in the end.
