Glasgow’s Braehead Clan saw their first weekend on the road end on a low note as Coventry Blaze ensured John Tripp’s men wouldn’t bring any league points home.

Following on from Saturday’s defeat in Milton Keynes, the Clan weren’t able to turn it around as they went to Skydome, but saw Coventry complete their own four point weekend.

Blaze had the best of the early exchanges as Adam Courchaine and Luke Ferrara sprung a breakaway that was defended well.

Ryan Dingle hit the post with an effort, but it was Ferrara that got the first goal on the board after he was set up by Dax Lauwers.

Clan were trying to penalty kill a five-on-three powerplay as Craig Cescon and Landon Oslanski both sat, but the home side took advantage as Marc Vallerand added a second.

Braehead pulled one back inside the first four minutes of the second period as Adam Brace got his name on the list, assisted by Christoffer Bjorklund.

Clan went into the final period, chasing the game and a goal behind as they tried to level things up in the last 20 minutes.

Things hit a setback as Blaze captain Jordan Pietrus scored their third on the powerplay to open up a two-goal lead.

The night ended for Jacob Doty, who was given a five plus game penalty for spearing by the referee.

Braehead found themselves even further behind with five minutes to play as Dingle put Blaze 4-1 ahead and effectively clinched the points for Coventry.
