We have another two games to be ticked off the list today as we head to Coventry and Dundee for today’s helping in Clan’s history.
There’s goals galore with a total of 12 scored between the two games – one of which has 11 – as we catch up with old faces doing what they do best.
2014: Dundee Stars 4 Braehead Clan 7 (Challenge Cup)
Sometimes you get games where everything seems to go right for you and this certainly appeared to be the case when Braehead Clan headed to Dundee in 2014 on Challenge Cup duty.
It was a Stars team much different from the one that won the Gardiner Conference the season before, but it didn’t stop Braehead having plenty of success in front of the net.
The visitors took an early lead inside the first five minutes when Scott Pitt found the net. John Dolan scored the even things up, but three more from Clan, courtesy of Derek Roehl and Stefan Meyer and Pitt with his second put them in pole position.
Dundee hit back again through Rob Ricci, but that joy was short-lived as Ben Davies got on the scoresheet, followed by Meyer again in the third period.
Matt Ryan and Kevin Quick notched a couple for Dundee, but Pitt completed his hat-trick before the end to seal the points for Ryan Finnerty’s team.
2015: Coventry Blaze 0 Braehead Clan 1 (Elite League)
Most ice hockey games give you plenty to write about and this feature certainly has provided lots to look back on.
There are also games where you need to pad out the content to fill the gaps so this is when you need to be creative for this purpose.
This is one such occasion as a very tight contest between Blaze and Clan saw only one goal scored, deep in overtime that proved to be the decider for the visitors.
Boris Valabik and Braehead’s Marcus Gotz saw their nights ended with game misconduct penalties in the first period, but there was nothing to report by way of goals.
Thankfully, Ric Jackman got on target halfway through the overtime period to clinch a hard-fought victory from the Skydome.
