NEWS: Tripp happy with weekend performances

UPCOMING HOME GAMES: It’s an exciting start to the 2017/18 season with the German DEL2 Champions, Löwen Frankfurt visiting Glasgow on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th August. Tickets are available NOW via TICKETMASTER, by calling 0844 499 1700 or direct at the Braehead Arena box office.

Saturday’s game is sponsored by BLACK & LIZARS and Sunday’s game by BAR VARIA.

Glasgow’s Braehead Clan head coach John Tripp says there’s more to come from his team after taking charge for the first time at the weekend.

Clan suffered two losses to Cardiff Devils and Nottingham Panthers at the weekend as they took to the ice for the first time in 2017/18.

Despite those losses, Tripp was positive about what he saw and says he’s excited at what lies ahead.

“It’s a whole new team, new coach and a lot of guys coming over from North America for the first time so there’s a lot of different experiences for the guys,” the coach said.

“They did a lot better against Nottingham on Sunday than they did on Saturday and I was pleased with my two goalies and how they performed.

“On Sunday, we were doing fine until the last eight minutes when we lost a couple of guys in the box and their depth helped them through.

“The players definitely grew into the games over the weekend, more so on Sunday and they’re shaking the cobwebs off after the summer.

“It’s a long time and you don’t expect success overnight. There’s a lot of chemistry to build and they’ve been worked hard all week.

“I was pleased with the levels the guys showed and that will only get better. It’s nice to see it come together, but there’s still a lot of work to do.

“As for the quality we’ve just faced, it makes me even more excited about the new season. We did a lot of good things at times so I’m looking forward at what’s to come.”
