Partick Thistle goalkeepers Jamie Sneddon or Scott Fox will follow in the footsteps of Petr Cech when they trade football goalkeeping for ice hockey netminding for one night only at Braehead Arena THIS WEDNESDAY (7:30pm face-off).

To celebrate the Clan’s new partnership with Partick Thistle, the two clubs are undertaking a special “goalie exchange”, starting at the Clan’s home Challenge Cup Quarter Final with Dundee Stars.

Following the end of the first period, a fully padded up Sneddon or Fox will take to the ice to experience life as a netminder, facing three penalties from Clan’s all-time top scorer Scott Pitt – with the full first-team squad looking on.

The two Firhill goalkeepers visited Braehead in advance to get some tips from regular Clan netminder, Patrick “Killer” Killeen. Killer will experience the reverse when he visits The Energy Check Stadium at Firhill on Saturday, 11 January, to face some penalties on the pitch during the half-time interval of Thistle’s home match against Dundee United.Any Thistle fans wishing to attend this Wednesday’s Challenge Cup quarter-final between Glasgow Clan and Dundee Stars can enjoy discounted prices of £10 entry for adults and £5 for 16’s and under. The action starts at 7.30pm.

The Thistle goalkeeper taking to the ice will be confirmed on the day with both Sneddon and Fox reported to be hugely enthusiastic and fighting over the chance to be a one-night netminder.

Glasgow Clan partnership

Ice-cool Sneddon, said to be an accomplished skater, said: “Obviously as goalkeepers the puck stops with us. It was really interesting chatting with Patrick and hearing both the similarities and differences of being a netminder.”

Meanwhile Fox, a veteran of the George Square rink action, added: “It’s great to see both of the clubs get together and do something a little different although I’d take a Mitre in the face over a puck to the leg any day of the week!”
