Glasgow Clan captain Zack Fitzgerald was pleased to celebrate with fans after lifting the Gardiner Conference trophy on Sunday.

Pete Russell’s men secured the prize after beating Dundee Stars 5-1 last Tuesday to win it for a fifth time in seven years.

And Fitzgerald says it’s the first step as the team heads towards the end of the season, looking for a strong finish.

“That was step one and we went out and accomplished it,” he said. “We didn’t start too well in the Challenge Cup, but we stepped it up in the league games.

“It was good to lift the trophy in front of the fans and let them get involved. You could see they were excited for it and it was a great atmosphere.

“It was also great to have the OSC involved in the presentation, with Roddy (Brown) handing the trophy over. They do so much for us as a team, I was delighted they played a part in the occasion.

“It’s fun to take the pictures and create the buzz and that’s part of where we want to be and now we can concentrate on getting through the league and on to the play-offs.”

The Gardiner trophy will be in the foyer on the 2nd of March for the Purple Army to have photo’s taken with it.
