NEWS: Clan partner with veterans’ charity Erskine

October 6, 2016

NEXT HOME GAME: The 2015/16 Elite League champions, the Sheffield Steelers and Zack Fitzgerald are visitors to Braehead Arena THIS FRIDAY (7:30pm face-off), sponsored by Ogilvie. Tickets are available NOW via TICKETMASTER, by calling 0844 499 1700 or direct at the Braehead Arena box office.

The Braehead Clan are delighted to announce veterans’ charity Erskine as one of two of the club’s official nominated charities for the 2016/17 season.

This follows in the announcement of our partnership with Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity back in September.

Erskine has been caring for veterans for a century, providing unrivalled nursing, respite, palliative and dementia care within four care homes in Scotland. The charity now also cares for spouses of ex-servicemen and houses younger veterans and their families in cottages on the Erskine Estate in Bishopton.

The Clan’s home game against the Sheffield Steelers this Friday (7th October) will be in support of the charity. The Clan will wear a specially designed purple camouflage jersey, which will be auctioned off following the game with proceeds going to Erskine.

Clan Hockey & Operations Director Gareth Chalmers commented: “We are delighted to confirm Erskine as one of our nominated charitable partners this season, following in the footsteps of the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

“When selecting our charities we felt it would be very fitting to support Erskine taking into consideration it’s their centenary year. They provide superb care for veterans and their families, so it was a very easy decision to make the decision to show our support. We’re very excited and looking forward to working with David and his team.”

David McFadden, Community Fundraiser – West for Erskine said: “We are absolutely delighted to be partnered with Braehead Clan for the 2016/17 season; our Veterans have already enjoyed a fantastic visit from some of the players – honing their hockey skills enough that they might have a chance on the roster!

“The Veterans are looking forward to the game on Friday night and can’t wait to cheer on the Purple Army! With the support of the Clan our residents will continue to receive the highest level of care and attention; it’s with supporters like you we are able to continue looking after our country’s brave Veterans.”
