NEWS: Clan announce fixture changes
The Glasgow Clan, sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West, have to announce the follow changes to forthcoming home fixtures.
It is with regret Clan have sadly had to cancel the King’s Inch Cup fixture with Dundee Stars on Wednesday 3rd November.
Furthermore, our opening home league games against Fife Flyers (Saturday 6th November) and Belfast Giants (Saturday 13th November) will also be rescheduled for later dates.
The reason for these changes is due to the local infrastructure pressures caused by the COP26 climate change conference taking place in Glasgow during early November, but also the time frame in coming to an agreement in relation to the future of Braehead Arena.
New dates for the games against Fife and Belfast will be announced in due course, but the Clan will continue to start their 2021/22 season as scheduled.
This means the club will play their first competitive game since March 2020 on the road against Belfast Giants at the SSE Arena on Sunday 7th November, face-off 4:00pm.
The first home game at Braehead Arena will now be the Premier Sports Elite League meeting with Cardiff Devils on Saturday 20th November, face-off 7:00pm.
We are continuing to work with our new ticketing partners at Future Ticketing, as soon as we are in a position to release game night tickets for general sale, further information will be available via ClanIHC.com and Clan socials.
Clan’s Chief Operating Officer Gareth Chalmers shared his own disappointment at seeing the first few games delayed.
“I know the Purple Army will be hugely disappointed by this news,” he said. “Unfortunately the combination of COP26 disruption and protracted Arena negotiations has taken it out of our hands.
“With Glasgow hosting an event as large as COP26, we’ve seen many events and venues having to shut down so it’s massively frustrating that we’ve had to do the same at a time when we were excited to welcome fans back.
“This is a minor setback in the general scheme of things and with a bright future ahead, it won’t be long until we can enjoy game nights again in Braehead.”
