Brendan Connolly’s late leveller took Glasgow Clan into overtime against MAC Budapest – but Jared Brown’s winner for the Hungarians saw them take the win.

Again, there was much to be pleased about as Pete Russell saw his team go toe to toe with the champions of the Erste Liga even though it ended as another loss.

Glasgow had the better of the first period with a couple of chances of note as they looked to break their Hungarian opponents down, but couldn’t quite make the breakthrough.

Zack Fitzgerald did it early in the second when his effort seemed to get a touch off Scott Pitt on the way in, but was given to the Clan captain as Pete Russell’s side went ahead.

Budapest were back on level terms shortly after when Chris Bodo laid off for Krisztian Nagy, who swept his shot into the net.

Glasgow were back in front when a Fitzgerald pass released Rasmus Bjerrum, who spotted Scott Tanski arriving late and the forward powered in a second.

The visitors equalised again as Gary Russell denied Chris Langkow’s excellent effort before Jesse Dudas followed up to execute the finish.

Once more, the home side edged ahead as Brendan Connolly moved in from the right to tee up Bjerrum with an excellent finish.

But again, the Hungarian champions regained parity when Bodo flung the puck into the centre and managed to beat Russell on the way.

Gergely Majoross’s team went ahead in the third period for the first time as Istvan Terbochs fired into the roof of the net.

But there was late drama as Connolly forced the puck over the line in the last minute after Travis Ehrhardt’s powerful shot went wide, taking the game into the extra period.

Jared Brown got the winner for Budapest when he beat Russell with a low shot, taking victory in the end.
