NEXT HOME GAME: Enjoy last Friday’s 2-1 WIN over the Fife Flyers? Join the Purple Army once again THIS SATURDAY when the Belfast Giants visit Glasgow in Challenge Cup action. Tickets are available NOW via TICKETMASTER, by calling 0844 499 1700 or direct at the Braehead Arena box office (Thursday 12 noon to 9pm, Friday 12 noon to 5pm and Saturday 10am all the way to face-off).

Well our first weekend back in Braehead Arena was a great Homecoming and a superb experience for myself and the team. A near sell-out crowd against our Scottish rivals the Fife Flyers. It was a great performance on and off the ice by both the club and our great supporters.

Saturday we headed back on the road and down to Sheffield to face the Steelers. The House of Steel has always been a really tough place to go and an Arena that I have never taken points from personally. But never say never and again the guys pulled a great road performance out the bag to complete two brilliant results in two days.

Sunday we headed to Manchester for our third game in three days. It’s a tough place to go as everyone knows and even tougher when it’s your third game in three nights. I felt we were not just at the level we had been at the two nights prior and it hurt us defensively, but that’s how tough this league is.

Manchester I felt were clinical and they took the points. Yes I care about the result, but my head was elsewhere during the last five minutes and post game with our captain Zack Fitzgerald sustaining a nasty head injury. I must thank the Manchester Storm organisation for all their care and help with Zack. They were great and so was our very own Andy Piper. The update on Zack is he will be week to week but we won’t be rushing him back, he will only be back when he is 100% ready.

I want to thank the Purple Army for just a sensational support home and away. In all honesty I was blown away on Friday night, coaching here in Glasgow is something that means so much to me and the noise and passion on Friday at our first real home game was a wonderful experience.

I am looking forward to seeing you all this Saturday against Belfast.

Pete
