Hi Purple Army,

I hope everyone is continuing to stay safe and well.

There has been a lot going on at the club ever since we decided to push forward with our plans for a 2021/22 season. Like everyone else, the past 18 months have been extremely challenging for the hockey club and at times we had very difficult circumstances to resolve, however we have hopefully come out of the worst of it and now have a very exciting future to embrace. We couldn’t have done that without YOU, whether that’s been purchasing merchandise, Shirt off the Back raffles, the Equipment raffles, the 50/50 raffles etc etc or support from our fantastic sponsors at Aspray Glasgow West – it’s all played a major part of why we are still here today!

When preparing for a 2021/22 season it was imperative we made a new head coach appointment in a timely manner, and after shortlisting from nearly forty coaches and interviewing half a dozen potential candidates, I was delighted we were able to hire Malcolm Cameron. I’ve know Malcolm for a number of years, we’ve been in contact on numerous occasions, and following our discussions with him he was our first choice and I’m very excited to see what the up forthcoming season’s will bring.

The dynamic of the club going forward will very much change, so it was imperative we could bring in someone who was experienced in a Head Coaching and Head of Hockey Operations role. My focus needs to be fully on the off ice aspects of the club and what is going on around it, while Malcolm will bring his twenty year coaching and hockey ops experience to the club from an on ice perspective. Player recruitment is fundamental, despite taking the decision to start our season in November, we’re really steaming ahead and it’s going to be exciting couple of weeks for everyone associated with the Clan. Keep checking ClanIHC.com and Clan socials for all the latest signing news!

We are launching our 2021/22 season ticket renewals on Monday (2nd August 2021), with new season ticket applications, seat additions and seat moves open from Monday 30th August 2021. The tender process with potential new ticketing partners is still ongoing so all season ticket renewals will be processed via the Clan online shop.

I am sure you can appreciate it’s a very unprecedented period, it’s almost been the perfect storm for the Clan with the pandemic and venue situation. We have tried to make the renewal process as easy as possible for our loyal season ticket holders. Rest assured, as part of the ticketing system tender we are looking to include the season ticket applications and renewals into any potential system, to provide you with an unrivalled fan experience in any potential future process. Please bear with us over the coming weeks, there is only myself and Gerry currently working for the club on a full time basis, however when we start resolving the staffing situation we can assure you everything will be organised for when we make our exciting return to the ice.

Unfortunately due to the highly difficult economic climate and pressures that is placing on the club, we aren’t in a position to provide the option to pay by direct debit over a five month period. I appreciate many of the Purple Army will be in very similar circumstances, however taking into account we are playing a truncated six month season and the lack of standalone Challenge Cup home games, we just weren’t in a position to offer the traditional direct debit plan. However I am pleased to confirm that if you pay for your season ticket renewals via Paypal, you will be able to take advantage of Paypal Pay in 3, which allows you to spread your payments over three months.

I am sure like me, you literally can’t wait to return to the ice in November for the start of an extremely exciting new era for the Glasgow Clan!
