NEWS: Danskin learning on the job

Aspray Glasgow West sponsored Glasgow Clan defenceman Liam Danskin says he’s enjoying the test of the Viaplay Elite League after making the step up.
The 22-year-old is on a two-way deal with Solway Sharks and has been part of the Clan team in recent games, including the home double header last weekend.
And he’s loving every minute of his experience as he makes the most of the Sharks being on a break at the moment.
“Stepping up to the Elite League has been a good experience and I’ve learned it’s much faster plus he boys are a bit bigger,” he said.
“The guys around me have been brilliant in keeping me right and pointing out things I can do better, which is a big help.
“There’s no doubt I’m testing myself and I want to get to a point where I can get a bigger role and more ice time, but that comes down to hard work, which is on me.
“It’s all been a positive experience and with Solway Sharks on a break, I’m making the most of it.”
Danskin has featured nine teams for the Clan so far and reflected on the games last weekend, where he enjoyed the atmosphere of the crowd.
With Sheffield Steelers in town again on Saturday (face off 7pm), the young D-man insists the mood in the dressing room after last week’s 7-1 loss to the Steelers wasn’t what you expected.
“Last Saturday was hard for everyone and it’s not great when that happens,” he added. “The dressing room wasn’t a completely negative one and instead of feeling sorry for ourselves, it was more looking at where we can improve.
“We wanted to try and fix things and I definitely think the boys can come back with an answer back from last Saturday.
“It’s a chance to turn that around and with the fans there and the energy they can bring, the more it gives to keep going.
“Whenever I can on the ice and help the team, it’s a win-win for me as I want to play and get more experience. If we do get the victory, then it will make it all the better.”
