GAME DAY: What to expect in Braehead Arena on HOGMANAY

The Glasgow Clan, sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West are looking to round off 2022 in style when Dundee Stars come to Braehead Arena.

With a sell-out crowd expected for this one, it’s a chance for the Clan to get a couple of big points that will hopefully kick start a resurgent 2023, but today’s opponents will have something to say about that.

Let’s leave the on-ice talk for now and take you around Braehead Arena and tell you what’s going on for the last time this year.

Limited tickets remain available online so make sure you get yours while you can.  Face off at 2pm, with doors opening at 12.30pm.

An afternoon with the Stars

Clan are unbeaten in three previous games on this particular day and found their form the last time Dundee Stars were here so everyone will be hopeful of points to enjoy.

Jeff Mason’s side may not be in the best of form, especially away from home, but on their day, are more than capable of churning out points when required.

It’s a game where there isn’t going to be much between the teams so don’t be surprised if it goes the distance.

Box Office Open

The Braehead Arena is open between 11am and 2.30pm and is there to accommodate game day buyers due to the cost of living crisis.

However, where possible, fans are asked to continue to purchase tickets online in advance, but any sales at the box office will be at the same price as online sales.

Limited tickets were on sale due to high demand so book now while you can to avoid disappointment.

Figure Skating for you today

Today’s skater is Mya Milne, age 11 from Olympia Figure Skating Club.

She started skating at age 6 and has been on the British national squad for last five years, ranking number one in the UK for two different levels aged up to 15.

Mya recently represented GB in Budapest and won silver medal out of 52 international skaters.   Since she began competing, she has podiumed 21 times out of 26 competitions and she’ll be here for you during the first period break.

Tonight’s Shirt off the Back is the purple jersey belonging to new Clan captain, #71 Craig Peacock and it could be YOURS!

Clangus

The league’s best mascot (not you, Starsky!), Clangus likes to moooove it and you’ll see him making his way around the arena, dancing to his favourite tunes and seeing as many people as he can.

His two favourite things are hugs and selfies so make sure you plenty if you see him.  Also remember to shout and wave after the chuck-a-puck for the chance to win a Cross-Check T-shirt from our T-shirt cannon

Vote for Man of the Match

You can vote for your Clan man of the match using the Clan App. Just tap on the VOTING tab on the main menu bar during the 3rd period and use the drop-down menu to select your Clan player.

Hot food and beverages are available in Braehead Arena, including hot dogs nachos and a choice of alcoholic and soft drinks from our bar.

Our Hockey Hot Box delights sees a choice of three fantastic options – Chicken Curry, Pasta Arrabbiata or Chicken and Chips, each for sale priced at £6.

Accessibility 

We have a number of accessible seats within the arena and also two disabled toilets in the foyer. We also have access to another disabled toilet within the shopping centre which has a hoist – please let security know if you need assistance locating these toilets.
